I’m always fascinated how little things can make such a BIG impact. One of my favorite stories of Jesus is the one about the mustard seed. It is my favorite so much, in fact, it is the inspiration behind the Necklaces we make as our biggest fundraiser to support the Finding Her Ministry.
What is so neat about a mustard seed? Well, it’s extremely small, for one. But that one little seed can grow into a massive tree strong, and full of life.
First and foremost, let’s look at the scriptures:
In the book of Matthew, Jesus heals a Demon-Possessed Boy (Matthew 17:17-20)
At first, the disciples attempted to heal the child, but were not successful. They asked Jesus why they were not able to heal him, and Jesus said, “Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
I just love this. Why? Because Jesus is telling them that they simply CAN NOT work miracles without Faith. Faith in God.
Jesus wouldn’t be who He is without God. The miracles he performed, the lives he saved, the impact he made and still makes to this very day. His faith was HUGE, bigger than we will ever be able to mirror, but what he’s saying here is that you don’t need that BIG faith in God to perform a Miracle. You only need as small as a mustard seed.
Girls, this here is gold. On days when I’m falling short, this is the scripture I love to hear. These are the words that transform my perspective. They give me hope.
This passage also reminds me that in times where I feel I’m drowning in sorrow or when I’m overwhelmed with the trials life throws at me, my faith in the Lord can move the mountains I’m facing.
Imagine: If our Faith in God was as big as a mountain, our problems would seem so small, wouldn’t they? Where’s your Faith today?
Every relationship we have has a foundation, built on key elements that help it thrive, like Trust. Your relationship with God needs Trust. If you’re one of those ladies that doesn’t trust easy, here’s a newsflash. Your relationship with the Lord isn’t just any relationship. This one’s holy.
The Lord wants to hear from you. To lead you and guide you, but He wants to know you’re willing to build a bond with Him.
You see, If your relationship with God is an understanding of the Bible, and a belief that He is who He says He is; that Jesus is the Son of God who came to this Earth and Died for our Sins, you’re half-way there…You’re a Believer.
But, girl—You’re just scratching the surface! There’s an intimacy the Lord desires with you. There’s a life He wants to give you that you’ve only imagined, but He doesn’t give those out on the Surface. He gives that when you’ve dug deep. When you’ve allowed yourself to trust the Lord, to let him lead you through sacrifices, spiritual growth; through the highs and the lows.
Mamas, it’s time to have a little faith. That moment you’re faced with a trial- Take it to God. Psalm 138:8 says, “The Lord will accomplish what concerns me.” He knows the cries of your heart. Your job is to Trust that He’s fighting this battle, even if you can’t see it.
Faith as small as a mustard seed is obviously tiny, but I’m confident in my belief that Jesus used it as a perfect example to show the disciples that little faith is good, but when that seed is planted; when it grows roots; when it flourishes with the right nutrients… Its becomes a magnificent tree; strong and thriving.
Oh, what we could produce if we had just a little faith…
